Skill Points to Gold : Miyani Mystic Forge Vendor

I'll show you today how to trade skill points for gold utilizing the Mystic Forge Vendor named Miyani. You are going to need to acquire the following:

Buy 10 Philosopher Stones from Miyani the Mystic Forge Vendor for one skill point.

Miyani the Mystic Forge Vendor
Purchase 2 Gossamer Scraps. (~8 silver)
Purchase 500 Silk Scraps. (~1 gold 20 silver)
Purchase 2 Piles of Crystalline Dust (~2 silver)

Place those items into the mystic forge twice. I doubled the recipes because you can only buy Philosopher Stones 10 at a time, so why leave 5 in your bank unused? You will get a random number of Gossamer Scraps during this process, but you should make money every single time.

Create Gossamer Scraps with Mystic Forge
I came out ahead 60 silver from both conversions. One for 40 silver and one for 20 silver profit. Is a skill point worth 40 silver to you? I guess it depends on whether or not you have purchased everything you want to already with said skill point.

Hint: Use buy orders for everything you can so that you will make the most profit possible per skill point!

Hint x2: Most people are going to try this for gossamer, so how about you do the math and try for a different market?

In recipe you say "2 Gossamer Scraps", on the screenshot we see 25. The price is not the same :p

You only need 1, but I placed the whole stack of what was in my bags.

Cool. Also just wanted to say thanks for the blog. Usually by the time i read it the market changes and not as profitable but your methods get me thinking about various other strategies.i'm happy to say i made about 20g this weekendbetween tp and crafting.

On the wiki it says that conversion requires 5 piles of dust and we also see 5 on your screenshot but you say one in recipe.
    Which amount is correct ?

    Crap I'm sorry it's 5.

This is a very risky recipe.

The mystic forge can give anywhere between 10 and 50 scraps in return.
If it gives 10, you lose 20 silver on one recipe.

thats true i did it like 4 times from 2.39 g and now it was 1.37 g i dont recommend this,,sorry markco,,

If it doesn't work now (probably due to everyone trying it at once), consider applying this method to ANY other material!

This blows. Not guaranteed to get jack. I spent my 1.2ish gold on Silk, add my 10 Philosopher Stones, and my 5 stacks of dust. Result, 10 Gossamer SCRAPS.

And unlike what the previous poster says, you lose much more than 20 silver if you get 10 scraps. FINAL result, lost 80 silver. You have to get 30 scraps just to break even. Yep, very risky and lesson learned.

Mitch, you paid too much for your silk. Try using buy orders instead of buying at lowest seller. Also, beware using the identical method as so many other players are also trying it.

Now is the time to sell silk, but also to try converting other materials.

I spent similar to you but still a high risk. Not angry, its only fake money lol.

    I still feel bad :(

I should have warned people to wait a week before trying this.

we are not angry,,we know its a risk,,lucky now who has a lot silk scrap to sell because of this post,,hmmm :)

The tip was good, just check in future if there is an other good market ;)

This blog just learn you how to look at the market. It's not a Genius, just an advisor.

    Thanks Markco ;)

  1. Dont feel bad, gotta take risks every now and again and i appreciate what you do on the blog :)

Seems the modal output of the recipe is (or at least has been for me) 20 gossamer. Assuming it's a truly random distribution (who knows with Zomorros), the average is also 20 gossamer.

If you had enough cash and skill points to do this many times, you should easily come out ahead. Apologies to anyone who starts this on a losing streak and goes negative; at current prices you should break even at about 15 and make profit on anything above.

Bursting your bubble here, but no, unless you show us the maths at the time of you doing the conversion, I call bullshit on the profit margin.
250 silk * 18c = 45s. 3s 17c for one gossamer. 5 dust * 79c = 3s 95c. Total cost is 52s 12c. At this price, you need to get at least 19 gossamer back to break even (3s 15cish per scrap, don't forget 15% AH fee). The user above is correct that the average is 20 gossamer (I played this market when gossamer was hovering around 5s, about 40 skill points played total).
Next time, post your maths, or don't post at all. You're just leading sheep to the slaughter by saying you're making profit without showing how to calculate if they can too. The majority of your fan base isn't very savvy.

I included the fee in my profits. When I announced this method, it got picked up by several popular websites. Overnight, it became near impossible.

Also, I give warnings and specifically state you must use buy orders to make it work.

Gossamer went from 4.5 silver to 3 in 48 hours after I posted this too FYI.

And do not think for a second the majority of people here are stupid. Seriously, it's the complete opposite.

  1. this is what u get when u become a ineedclicks or i needlikes whore
people follow your example and do it all over the place, the result is what? u fucked it up by telling it to every fool out there....

  1. Markco said...:

There are millions playing and maybe 5,000 a day see this blog. It's still a small enough group that this method is still profitable.

what else can we create with this receipe?

  1. Anonymous said...:

Lost around 3% after doing this 7 or 8 times.

  1. Anonymous said...:
