Should New Players Speculate?

"Hey Markco,

I guess it's safe to say that I'm one of those countless people who were helped by your trading post advices :) It's really been a life saver for me since I don't always have the time to run dungeons for money and chance are, pick up groups are usually bicker-y and rude for me. I wanted to ask about the upcoming ascended armors (supposedly this year). Would it be a good idea to stock up on tier 6 materials or things like ores and wood or is that a bad idea since there is no guarantee that prices will inflate? I only got into playing the trading post a few days ago so I still have a long way to go haha. Thanks for reading this email and I, just as the countless people who learned from your posts and website, appreciate your help!"
Start small with level 1-45 armor (fine, masterwork, and rare) and try placing 25 items per buy order. These will get you good profits early on.
Crawl your way through other item categories in the game. Like weapons, dyes, sigils, runes, etc. I call it crawling, but it really is just exploring and looking for items with profitable gaps between buy and sell orders.

Track your progress over time, and eventually you'll understand how certain markets change in cycles.
I know this isn't exactly the answer you wanted, but I don't think you should stockpile and speculate on anything for any reason when you're first starting out!
