What to Do When Tier 6 Markets Explode

Tier 6 items are blowing up like crazy... prices we haven't seen in a very, very long. Could it be the snow days? Bot bans? College players enjoying the game once more? Whatever the reason, now is the best time to take advantage of the advice I gave you in this bag opening post.

Here is a list of the bags that drop tier 5-6 items:

Several of these bags I managed to get a hold of before others caught on. I hope that a few of you were able to do the same! Even now, if you comb through the trading post looking at these bags, you will find some great buy order and even listings to buy outright.

The next strategy I'm looking into is the Mystic Forge. We haven't been able to convert tier 5 to 6 for a profit EVER with the mystic forge, but if prices keep rising maybe we'll make history ;)

Last but not least, it's probably time to farm some Cursed Shore!

Hello. I bought the recipes for light of dwayna and shadow of grenth when they were cheap. The price went up to 20g and 30g but now they crashed down. Why did that happen and do you think they will come back up? And will those flame and frost dyes go up? I bought 2 of those also.

    is this a joke?

I've regularly made 40-60s per Skillpoint via that up-conversion for a LONG time now...

George W Bush (haha) are you sure you're making a profit? Let's say Orichalcum Ore:

    Tier 6 results in 6-40 of the item (so let's say 23). 23 x 4 silver = 92 silver

    Costs:
    250 Mithril Ore = 75 Silver
    5 Crystalline Dust = 95 Silver
    1 Orichalcum Ore = 4 Silver

Are you doing the math properly for your costs? I'm not doubting that you have found ways to make this profitable with one of the Tier 6 mats, but it's not the norm I can assure you.

*Not to mention you're using 5 Stones each time, which could be used in other, more profitable methods for getting gold with the forge.

I mainly do it with blood, venom, dust, etc.(I've never bothered with Orich). It's not something you can do everyday, but with careful monitoring of the market you can make some quick gold. Granted, there are other ways of using skillpoints, but I think up-conversion is probably one of the easier ones for people to learn.

I think he's talking about the vails and bones and the other fine mats

Hi Markco, you need to assume some cost per skill point, but isn't this exactly what Egg Barons spreadsheet does? Eg Shows you profit/loss per skill point of upgrading core > lodestone.

If i have a lot of T6 mats saved up should i sell them?

  1. Markco said...:

Yes I would sell all but the ones that have only slightly risen (like ore and totems).

I have been a member on and off Markco's private forum for the past year and the things I have learned from it are priceless. In the past week and a half alone ive been passively trading on the TP and went from 20g to nearly 100g (at 90g at the he moment) just from implementing the strategies and methods ive learned from him and the others on the forum. He definitely knows his stuff!
