Fools Selling Unidentified Dyes

As I predicted, unidentified dyes fell to long forgotten prices after the patch. This is because players with dyes known by multiple characters were given free unidentified dyes to compensate them. But one thing that most people missed is that dyes will no longer be dropping from monsters in the game. What does that mean for prices? Even if there are far fewer people buying unidentified dyes long term, the price should go up immediately following the patch drop because of the decreased supply.

Here's two things to keep in mind:

1. You should be buying Unidentified dyes right now, not selling them.

2. Don't panic if prices drop a bit over the weekend when many players log on for the first time since the patch and dump their dyes onto the marketplace.

While I have lost literally thousands of gold from my enormous stockpile of unidentified dyes losing half their value, I am confident that the price will return to a higher amount than it was before.

EDIT: Here's what one reader emailed me a moment ago...

"Hello! I just wanted to thank you for the tip on I identified dyes on your blog. I bought yesterday at around 16s 60c when people flooded the market and now they are at 22s 22c with no signs of stopping. I also made some cash on the side by buying rare dyes that were put up at 5s then immediately flipping them at 20s. A lot of my friends thought that prices would skyrocket immediately and when prices were low stay very low. Thanks to your blog I was able to capitalize."

Hey Guys, do you think it is better now to flipp rare and masterwork dyes or buy them and wait until the flood hast stopped and hoping that the prices will skyrocket in 1-2 month?
Thanks to the Sigill i was able to firstly get my Goldhand Achievment. I couldn`t belive that some of them doubeld or even trippled. Slowly getting caught in the TP-Game. ;-)

As someone who waited for this opportunity, would you recommend buying now or waiting till the weekend to buy even greater quantities of dyes?

It's totally worth buying now, i do expect a second dip during the weekend though when more people will be logging in first time. Also now the supply is still going slowly up and demand is going slowly down.

I'd definitely buy now, because it's Good Friday. Lots of people are having a long weekend already.

What do you think about investing in individual dyes, such as celestial and abyss? It seems like the supply of those will go down the same way.

I have been investing in all the rares I personally spent money on in the past. I have a feeling that the rarity of the dyes is going to cause those to skyrocket as well.. Abyss and Celestial included.

Starting now, the only way to get dyes is RNG from Black Lion Chests, or 5 laurels for 1 dye.

I am no TP pro but I would think the rare dye will continue to decrease till the weekend warrior login is over so try and wait for the lowest selling point Sunday night Monday morning

Hey guys i have a few stacks of unidentified dyes. Better sell them now with the price of 25 silver each or wait some time? (week or two- even month)
